Sweet Afternoon Air

Sweet afternoon air.

What started as a master study of Edward Dufner’s classic meadow painting ended up being one of the very few paintings of mine that I actually quite like. It started flowing and diverging from the study without any reserve. The reason I like this is because I had an amazing time making thousands of little pencil strokes and I am proud of each of them doing their little job of being a mark.

Spending hours drawn out through cups of coffee, watching the June-July afternoon outside my window turn almost vainglorious shimmering in the slow afternoon sun and painting a green lazy scene was quite an experience. Afternoons are quite simple, aren’t they? And effortlessly so.
